It's difficult for the Australian squad to set fresh records.

The greatest achievements have long been mastered.

This is the squad that has claimed seven Cricket World Cups, plus an additional six T20 titles, and previously enjoyed 1,294 days undefeated in 50-over cricket.

The secondary achievements, targeted by the peak baggers, are the only things left for a team that has achieved everything.

It needed until Sunday's victory by three wickets over India for them to complete their first ODI chase above 300, regaining their record for the largest in the female 50-over format, is, frankly, a compliment to the bowlers that have represented Australia over five decades.

It's difficult for their batters to hold a record if never given the possibility.

Finally, the result of Australia allowing 330 runs was leader Alyssa Healy being given a platform to create her newest gem.

Originally famous as the teenage relative of celebrated previous Aussie wicketkeeper Ian, she debuted in 2010 after her nation failed to win either of the T20 or ODI World Cups from the prior year and has seen it all through 15 successful years since.

A T20 World Cup win arrived three months after her first appearance and seven global championships have followed from 10 attempts across formats.

The tough gloveman was in attendance in Derby in 2017 when a semi-final defeat by India momentarily interrupted the successful run.

That loss "pushed us to reevaluate our levels," Healy said this week.

At the next 50-over World Cup in New Zealand, Healy hit 170 against England in the final and was declared player of the series. She made sure her country would not fail again.

If this recent magnificent innings surpassed that earlier display remains open for discussion.

Some will argue the reasoning behind championship match pressure. Some might respond with the challenge that comes when facing a record target and an enthusiastic Indian fanbase of 20,000.

What is certain is this ton was considerably tougher to anticipate.

The Christchurch destruction in 2022 happened while she led the batting statistics, but this performance followed six innings in India over the past few weeks in which she had failed to pass 30.

"If you've observed me in practice sessions, it was a frustrating experience because it appeared I lacked timing whatsoever," said Healy.

"However when you step out on the field, your competitive instincts take over and you completely engage with the contest."

Healy's fighting spirit has always been her key asset - and a priceless quality in replacing famous previous leader Meg Lanning.

She was tormented by India's emerging talent Kranti Gaud in last month's ODI series, out to the young fast bowler in every game, but this time it merely gave Healy's spark.

A single came off the opening delivery and from that point Healy was on her way.

"A chance to take the field and lock in a contest with her and just have a bit of fun in that regard, somewhat inspired me," commented Healy.

She got to fifty in 35 deliveries - her swiftest at the global tournament - and her century in 84 deliveries while she punished short deliveries, scoring 21 fours and three sixes.

When she was dismissed her side needed 66 more at run per delivery - an unconquered height now requiring a leisurely stroll.

"To chase 330 is unfamiliar ground so I'm pleased we have the confidence to do that now," continued Healy.

"Hopefully we don't have to repeat it but, if we do, we know we can do it."

These statements will be the last Australia's opponents at this tournament should hear.

Over the past five days a sense they will triumph from any situation has only strengthened - this success following win against Pakistan by 107-run victory despite sitting at 76-7 at one stage.

Subsequently Australia meet Bangladesh before a meeting with traditional opponents England in Indore in 10 days, by which point a last-four spot may well be secure.

It was in the semi-finals they were eliminated from the prior year's T20 World Cup in a shock defeat by South Africa - an encounter Healy was absent due to ruptured tissue in her foot as she guided Australia for the first time at an important competition.

So strong is her resolve, she afterwards commented she regretted not playing with the discomfort.

Yet even as she later admitted those physical issues have pushed back consideration of ending her career, this tournament is likely to be her last as captain in ODI cricket and she is yet to win an international tournament as skipper.

Victory in India would bring her to the top of her last major obstacle.
